Some people claim that the calendar, or at least the weekly cycle, is unchanged (unbroken) from the time of creation; 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 days perpetually repeating ever since creation, seven days per week; four thousand years until Christ, six thousand years until present; 312,857 Sabbaths, 2,190,000 daily increments without ever gaining or losing even one single day. This theory, supposedly proves that the "sabbath" that they observe today is the same Sabbath instituted at creation. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,1,2,3,4,5,6,7...

This is a VERY unlikely theory with no basis in fact and without any built in control to verify or self correct. If it happens to be true (or false), it can't be proven. Half the time, I can barely remember what the current day is, how about you?

Even IF the whole world ALWAYS had a seven day week, this would be mathematically unlikely. But it didn't always have seven day weeks. Throughout history, there have been weeks made up of four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten days. see wikipedia/Week This largely refutes the contention of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7. How do you suggest people kept 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 straight in that mess for 2,190,000 days, some of which were NOT seven day weeks, for that many years?

Well, it is argued, God's people always knew. Did they? They weren't free to keep Sabbath at all for about 400 years in Egypt.

After being freed, they consistently profaned and "forgot" to keep God's Sabbaths. How could they be relied on to keep track of WHEN if they didn't even observe WHAT?

And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: יהוה [Yahweh, our god] hath caused the solemn feasts and Sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and hath despised in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest. Lamentations 2:6

But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my Sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them. Ezekiel 20:13

A.D. 70 - Destruction of Jerusalem

After the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, Rome made it a death penalty for any Jewish rabbi to determine or announce (decree) the timing of a new moon day. Determining new moon days and announcing the new month was one of the greatest ways the rabbis retained and controlled their authority and power. There was a huge controversy between the Rabbis of Babylon and those of Jerusalem over who had the authority to determine new months. Instead of relinquishing that power to the people, and for the sake of their own personal survival, the Pharisaic Talmudic Jews abandoned their traditional luni-solar calendar and their lunar month and their new moon days. They thought (hoped) to change their "sabbath" from the 7th day of their traditional calendar to Saturday of the Roman conqueror's calendar (this was much more expedient than being executed).

So, we have the Romans hoping to change the 7th day Sabbath to Sunday and the Jews hoping to change the 7th day Sabbath to Saturday, neither of which fit into proper weeks because they lack new moon days. This is when and why new moon days were abandoned by the Jews (after A.D. 70), having previously been abandoned by the Romans (46 B.C.). On the Roman calendar (adopted by the Jews after A.D. 70) there is no purpose for new moon days and the Pharisees could no longer legally determine when they occurred. New moon days have no relationship, function or synchronicity with Roman months. They were no longer needed, they became superfluous. Actually, new moons were not abandoned, the entire calendar was abandoned and exchanged for the Roman (fictitious) calendar that contains no new moons or numbered days (and contains no 7th day, therefore no fourth commandment Sabbath).

Regardless... this unprovable claim of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 from creation to present is completely refuted and proven wrong by the existence of Biblical New Moon Days.

Either:

1,2,3,4,5,6,7 days perpetually repeated from creation and new moon days NEVER existed.

OR

New moon days existed but 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 perpetually repeating days DID NOT.

The two choices are structurally and physically incompatible and opposite. It is absolutely impossible for the two to co-exist; it has to be one or the other. Even if, in all of history, there was only ONE single New Moon Day, that one day would have interrupted the perpetually repeating cycle and destroyed its claim of continuity. For anyone to admit to Biblical new moon days and still claim 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 from creation is ludicrous, dishonest, ignorant or some combination. You decide what YOU think is true or more likely.

Here is why the two theories can NOT co-exist. New moon days are NOT part of any 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 week. They exist OUTSIDE that structure. Here is an example of the perpetually repeating weekly structure without new moons.

You can see that in the first example (the weekly repeating structure) there is no separation into or between months. All weeks simply run together, ignoring fictional "months" and their boundaries. In the second (New moon) example, four weekly periods are divided into real months, separated by New moon days. There are ALWAYS four complete weeks in each month and the weeks NEVER cross month boundaries. The new moon starts the new month. The insertion of even one new moon day between months, negates (makes impossible) any claim of a perpetually repeating week. Both theories cannot co-exist. So the ONLY question is "Did Biblical new moon days exist?"


1. New Moon Days are Biblical

The first step is realizing that the Bible does teach the New Moon Day. This completely destroys the claim of any perpetually repeating 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 since creation. There is no way to deny this. AND, The new moon days were commanded by God to be kept and were to be kept Holy. (see New Moon Days)


2. A Holy Day

The 2nd step is understanding what the New Moon Day was. It was NOT an annual religious holiday, it was a sabbath day. It was not THE weekly Sabbath of the fourth commandment, but, nevertheless a sabbath day, kept Holy, without work or buying or selling. (also see Ezekiel 46:1 and Amos 8:5)


3. Perpetual

Some people acknowledge Biblical new moon days but claim that they were just another Israelite religious holiday, done away with, along with sacrifices at the cross, or they never applied to Christians. There is no basis for these claims. Can a Holy day be made unholy? or forgotten? or removed? or done away? Was anything Holy (other than the Messiah) nailed to the cross? (See What was nailed to the cross?) Regardless, if any new moon day EVER existed it would have interrupted and broken a perpetually repeating 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 week.

Just as there is no scriptural command changing the Sabbath from the 7th day to the 1st day or to Sunday or to Saturday, there is no command doing away with the New Moons. In fact they and the Sabbath will continue being observed as days of worship in the new Earth. That doesn't sound like nailed to the cross or done away with. It sounds perpetual.

For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith יהוה [Yahweh], so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith יהוה [Yahweh]. Isaiah 66:22-23

Besides, they were physical days inserted into the structure of the month. Even if the religious (spiritual) purpose was ended, the physical days would continue unless the entire structure of the calendar was changed. This is exactly what happened after A.D. 70.


4. Purpose

Instead of being a religious holiday, New Moon Days are a transition day between months. Without New Moon Days, months would get out of synch with the moon phases. The moon rules (controls) nights, weeks and months. It controls the start, the finish and the length of nights, weeks and months. The sun rules days and years. It controls the start, finish and length of days and years. The words moon and month are frequently synonymous. From one new moon to the next is one month (exactly, always) and the same as "from one new moon day to another". From one moon phase to the next is one week (exactly, always). Each of the four moon phases last one week (exactly, always). After a fourth moon phase a new month (moon) begins (exactly, always).

Without moon phases, "week" is a fictitious, meaningless, arbitrary grouping of any random number of days in a row (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) or (1,2,3,4) or (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9), etc. Its beginning and end can NOT be observed. Instead, based on the moon phases, a week is a specific, observable, unchanging, constant time measurement consisting of seven days that ends when the moon phase ends.

Any "week" not based on moon phases, even the current Roman fictitious "week" of seven days, is not a true week and has no logical, visible, objective beginning or end. Because there is no hard and fast 1st day there can't be a hard and fast 7th day, so there can be no (true) Sabbath Day. It can (and does) start on Monday in some of the Latin world, rather than on Sunday as adopted by modern Jews. This chosen start makes Sunday the seventh day and is no more correct or wrong than those (like modern Jews) who choose Saturday to be the 7th day. It is a matter of choice, not measurement. It is relative, fluid, flexible; NOT objective, constant and measurable. ie, "What do you WANT it to be?"

New moon days and weeks dictated by moon phases eliminate all guesswork, relativity and choice. God's signs in the heavens control the start and end of months and weeks, not some long dead Roman emperor who hoped to change times and laws. God's signs in the heavens control instead of men trying to count to 2,190,000 by 1,2,3,4,5,6,7.

All Biblical religious holidays had a stated purpose as ordered by Yahweh, related to the harvests (physical and spiritual harvests) and / or some momentous event, and were celebrated annually. Not so, new moon days. New Moon Days were identical in celebration to the weekly Sabbath and occurred monthly. Every new month was started by a New Moon Day (or two) and a new week. In the current Roman calendar, we are so used to incomplete, partial weeks, spanning two months that we find it difficult to understand that the ancient, traditional Israeli calendar ALWAYS started a new month with a new moon day and a brand new week. No week EVER schlepped over from one month into another. When the fourth week of the month ended, the month ended. It was time for a new month. Every month had four complete weeks, exactly, always.

If you can find any purpose other than a transitional Sabbath between months, please share it with me. If not (meaning Yahweh failed to tell us otherwise) I will continue to hold it as a transitional Sabbath in preparation to observing it in the new Earth.


He shall think (hope) to change times and laws.

Satan, through his minion proxies, the beast of Rome and the Talmudic Pharisee Jews (John 8:44), besides BOTH crucifying the Messiah, BOTH have hoped to subvert and corrupt all objective, observable time measurements, hoping to replace them with fluid, relative, unseen, false, counterfeit, virtual units that contain time, but measure nothing. The REAL objective measurement units of time are the DAY, WEEK, MONTH and YEAR. The REAL time units are ALL observable. The beginning can be seen (observed) and the end can be seen (observed). "Midnight" can NOT be seen. Without a clock or calculation we have no idea how to find "midnight", much less SEE it. see Daniel 7:25


DAY

The REAL twelve hour day is the period of observable daylight (see below). It has been (hoped to be) changed to a not observable 24 hour period from midnight to midnight and falsely includes the Biblical "night" (not part of day at all, logically or grammatically). Without a clock or calculation people cannot know when the Roman "day" starts or ends. (see Days)

Yahushua [Jesus] answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? ... John 11:9

To claim that there are 24 hours in a day is to say that Jesus was wrong. AND this is proof that He still used the traditional Israelite calendar (the one with new moon days) NOT the new-fangled false Roman calendar. Most people today use the Roman calendar. It mandates a 24 hour day, not the 12 hour day declared by Jesus.


WEEK

The REAL week based on observable moon phases has been (hoped to be) changed to unobservable random seven days, called a "week", but requiring a calendar to calculate and completely ignoring monthly boundaries. With perpetually repeating weeks, there is no beginning. The Roman calendar is more correct by eliminating numbered days, using instead named days. People attempting to use the Roman calendar, while incorrectly using numbered days, must start the week based on the numbering instead of starting the numbering based on the week. (see Weeks)


Four REAL weeks according to observable moon phases


MONTH

The observable REAL month, starting with a new moon and going through four observable moon phases, each exactly one week long, has been (hoped to be) changed to an unobservable group of random 28 to 31 days, starting and ending randomly, completely ignoring weeks, and based only on the power of long dead Roman leaders in a quest for more important (longer) "months" named after them. Without a calendar and knowledge of the current day, it is impossible to observe when a Roman "month" starts or ends. (see Months)

YEAR

The REAL year given by Yahweh to Moses (Exodus 12:2) was based on the four cycles (seasons) of life, spring, summer, fall and winter (birth, growth, harvest and decline/death). The REAL new year's day can be seen in the moon. There is ONLY one moon per year that displays the REAL new year. The REAL year was (hoped to be) changed to a "year" based on death and celebrating death, starting with winter (death) instead of spring (birth) and unobservable, requiring a calendar, knowledge of the current day or calculation to figure. (see Years)

Error Correction

All of the time measurements instituted by Yahweh are observable by anyone, at any time, without any previous counting or starting point. They are all self correcting. If an observation is impossible or poorly interpreted, the next period (or eventually) it will become observable again or observed correctly. This will correct any error. Each observation verifies accuracy. Now, 6000 years after creation, we can look at the heavens on any day and know (without any calculation or knowledge of the current or past days) if it is Sabbath or not. We can know if it is a new month or the new year. No calendar, calculation, politician, priest, rabbi, minister, scientist or mathematician is required.

An error introduced into the perpetually repeating 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 will remain forever and never be discovered or corrected. Even now we have no way of proving the accuracy and correctness of any claimed 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 week. Because they are not based on a current observation, they require a previously known starting point. There is no mechanism for measuring or correcting the error; not science, not mathematics, not astronomy, not astrology. Artificial, fictitious, virtual time can't be right or wrong, correct or incorrect. It is considered real only by consent of the deceived or ignorant. Now you are not ignorant.
