Satan has continued to attempt to take Yahweh's place and authority.

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Isaiah 14:14

He has two main strategies: 1) Hide himself and 2) Obscure the Father. "Hidden" is another meaning for "occult" which refers to Satanic.

When he does reveal himself, we frequently can see the prince of darkness. This is why he appeared in the garden hidden, camouflaged as a beautiful serpent.

Satan is more successful obscuring Yahweh from us than keeping himself hidden. If we don't know our Father and His Holy name, we can't love and trust Him. Satan also has a plan to unite all the world religions under him (Ecumenism). This will be easier to accomplish if the entire world agrees that they all worship the same god. That "god" will likely be named "LORD" as in the "Lord's day) and "LORD" which has already been substituted for "Yahweh" in almost all Bibles. It is for the purpose of revealing Himself that the Father sent His Son to live with us.

This brings us to Conspiracy #1. Yahweh's people in the Old Testament knew Yahweh, by name. They didn't always follow Him, but they knew Him. They knew His name and called Him by that name.

Around 200 years BC Satan conspired with certain Jews to hide, obscure and eliminate the name "Yahweh" - to steal his name, to give Him new names. Remember, to name someone is to exercise power OVER them - to exercise superiority over them. This was done under the guise of doing good. Beware "do-gooders". An ultra strict group, claiming good intentions, decided that the Holy name, Yahweh, that He gave Himself should no longer be spoken. Surely, they reasoned, that name was too holy to be on the lips of sinful man. They would protect Yahweh from sinners.

This group was called Pharisees. To this day that name conveys overly strict, self-righteous, hypocrites.

The Pharisees were so full of themselves that they believed and taught that their interpretations were more binding and correct than the Torah itself (Yahweh's own written law).

It will help to understand a little history that aided this conspiracy.

The children of Israel lost a lot of knowledge and continuity while in captivity in Babylon (586–538 B.C.E.). This is the time period where their calendar first became corrupted, replacing the numeral months (1,2,3 etc) with months named mostly after Babylonian false gods and changing the start of the year from spring to fall. They even adopted the written script of their captors, to this day using "Assyrian script" rather than the ancient "Biblical script".

Then the nation was ravaged by the Seleucid king Antiochus IV Epiphanes (175–164 B.C.E.). All the priests were killed and replaced with "priests" with little understanding and no personal relationship with Yahweh. Sabbath-keeping and the practice of circumcision had been forbidden under the pain of death; law-keeping Jews were subjected to every degradation and brutality imaginable; and pagan sacrifices and prostitution were established in the holy temple at Jerusalem. The reign of terror under Antiochus also brought with it the vile abuse and the prohibition against the sacred name of God, "Yahweh", as part of his program of forced Hellenization (making them more Greek). This opened the field to a religious (not spiritual) takeover by the Pharisees.

For centuries the oral interpretations of the Pharisees grew in number, ridiculousness and burden against the people. They were called oral interpretations, oral law or oral traditions. Only scribes and pharisees knew the many "laws" and accused the people when they trespassed.

Several centuries after Christ and after the near annihilation of their nation, these traditions and interpretations came to be finalized in written form (codified) and are now known as the Mishnah and the various Talmud and Midrash documents. Josephus, Antiquities, 2:12:4.

Jesus, the Messiah had plenty to say about these self-righteous do-gooders - busybodies - meddlers (see 1 Peter 4:15). We will examine that in the chapter "Exposed By the Messiah".

The law against uttering the holy name "Yahweh" had many rules. Conviction could only be upon testimony of two or more witnesses. However, an exception to the rule of witnesses was if the accused uttered the name in the presence of the court. The pharisee judges were to rend their garments immediately, to show how great the trespass was and the accused was to be sentenced to death, on the spot. This was the fate of the Messiah, because He completely ignored the oral tradition against uttering exactly the Holy name "Yahweh" and He taught his disciples to ignore it too.

The tradition of not speaking the Holy name became known as the "ineffable name doctrine". "Ineffable" means unutterable, can't be spoken. It successfully obscured the name "Yahweh" for centuries. It also obscured His character and His relationship with the Son. Anyone who dared utter the name "Yahweh" in the presence of witnesses was subject to the death penalty. Never, in history, had Yahweh been so obscured from the face of the Earth. It was at this time that our Father sent His Son to REVEAL Himself - to make plain again what had been hidden by Satan's conspiracy.

O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee... John 17:25

To this day (today) pharisee types don't utter the name of Yahweh but substitute "adonai" (Lords, Masters) or "HaShem" (the Name) or some other substitute for His name and might write God as G-d, which seems silly since the word "god" isn't even holy and isn't even a name.
