Neither the pot or the clay have any power over the potter. The potter can make what he wants and if it isn't what he wants, he simply breaks the pot to bits and starts again. Can the pot say to the potter, I want to be a different size or shape? The clay is predestined to become whatever the potter wants. It's a foregone conclusion! (see the study Predestination - The Myth of Freewill).

Isaiah 64:8
But now, O יהוה [Yahweh, our god], thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand. [this ALL includes the barley harvest, the wheat harvest, and the grape harvest, there is no other]

Jeremiah 18:3-6
Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. Then the word of יהוה [Yahweh] came to me, saying, O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith יהוה [Yahweh]. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

What chance do we have opposing Yahweh's ultimate will? Can we overrule what He wants? All will be conquered by Yahweh's love. We are predestined. Paul explains in the next verse, how Yahweh's predestination works, by giving two examples - Esau / Jacob and Israel / Pharaoh.

Romans 9:12-23
It was said unto her [Rebecca], The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with יהוה [Yahweh]? Let it not be!. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of יהוה [Yahweh] that sheweth mercy. For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against יהוה [Yahweh]? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? What if יהוה [Yahweh], willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory...

Jesus told us what the Father wills:

John 6:39
And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

Everything the Father gave Jesus will NOT be lost, but raised. What was given? All things!

Luke 10:22
All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

John 12:32
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

In the end, we have no choice. Everyone is predestined.

Ephesians 1:4-11
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; 9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: 11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Yahweh has appointed everyone to salvation.

1 Thessalonians 5:9
For יהוה [Yahweh] hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Master Yahushua the Messiah,

Everyone is "chosen .. to salvation" from the beginning.

2 Thessalonians 2:13 ... יהוה [Yahweh] hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

Yahweh's will is to save all His creation after making it new and we are predestined to be made new. BUT will Yahweh succeed?
