Our English word Joshua comes from the Hebrew word assigned by Strong as 3091 Yhowshuwa` pronounced "yeh-ho-shoo'-ah". Literally, it means "Yahu (Yahweh) saves" (see "Yahweh" is the ONLY name that SAVES). This truth is in accordance with all the law and the prophets and the New Testament rightly interpreted. (Joel 2:32, Isaiah 43:11, 2 Samuel 22:4, Psalms 28:8, Psalms 55:16, Psalms 109:26, Isaiah 25:9, Isaiah 33:22, Isaiah 43:3, Isaiah 49:26, Isaiah 60:16, Jeremiah 17:14, Jeremiah 31:7, Zephaniah 3:17, Zechariah 9:16, Acts 2:21, I Corinthians 1:18, 1 Corinthians 1:21, Ephesians 2:8, 1 Timothy 2:3, Jude 5 and Hosea 13:4 are a small representation).

It can be correctly transliterated into English as Jehoshua, Jehoshuah, Jeshua or Joshua. Three Hebrew men were named "Yahweh saves". All the "J's" would be more correctly written as "Y", so Yehoshua, Yehoshuah, Yeshua or Yoshua. This is related to the same error that finds the name of the Father, "Jehovah" instead of "Yahweh" (see Yahweh is My Name).

It is NOT coincidental that these three men were named "Yahweh saves". It is the goal of this study to demonstrate the significance and find the similarities of these three men.
