The first man named "Yahweh saves" that we find mentioned in the Bible is Joshua, the son of Nun.

And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua [Yahweh saves]: and Moses went up into the mount of God. Exodus 24:13

And Joshua [Yahweh saves] the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes: And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not. But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the Lord appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel. Numbers 14:6-10

These are they that were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho. But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai. For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua [Yahweh saves] the son of Nun. Numbers 26:63-65

Only Caleb and "Yahweh saves" (Joshua) remained of the original exodus, to enter into the promised land. Even Moses was denied this privilege because of his sin of striking the rock (Numbers 20:12).

Joshua, as the successor to Moses, led the people into the promised land.

But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see. Deuteronomy 3:28 (see also Deuteronomy 1:38, Deuteronomy 31:7,23, Joshua 11:15)

"Joshua made war a long time with all those kings." Joshua 11:18

Not only did "Yahweh saves" lead the people into the promised land, but he served as Yahweh's tool to deliver them (save them) from their enemies. And the children of Israel finally inherited the land they were promised.

Unfortunately, they abandoned Yahweh's Government of judges and requested a human government (see Yahweh's Government) and followed after other gods until they were so separated from their Creator that He left them to their sin, which resulted in captivity in Babylon.

Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord. And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. 2 Kings 20:17-18

Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Because ye have not heard my words, Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the Lord, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations. Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle. And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years. Jeremiah 25:8-11

The people had the promise that the captivity would not be permanent, but would last seventy years. They knew when it would be over. The captivity in Babylon wasn't penal, it was restorative. The children of Israel, before captivity, almost constantly turned to the worship of idols. After captivity, this lesson had been learned and idols were shunned. They could return home.
