The Feast of Trumpets
Today, as I write this study, it is the day of the Feast of Trumpets. Biblically, trumpets were used to sound an announcement, an alarm, or a call to war. The Feast of Trumpets was the announcement of the upcoming fall (harvest) festivals, Atonement and Tabernacles.
The Fall Harvest was the greatest harvest of the year. It was the harvest of the grapes and (olive) oil (see Grape Harvest).
And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. Ye shall do no servile work therein... Leviticus 23:23-25
The Feast of Trumpets is a call to war against sin and self in preparation for the soon coming Day of Atonement that follows, on the tenth day of this same month, every year and the week long Feast of Tabernacles that starts on the Sabbath after the Day of Atonement.
More importantly, this feast looks forward to the "one-time announcement" of the trump of God, at the coming of the King in Glory:
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
This is the trumpet call at the return of the King to claim His Barley Harvest, the elect. Although no mention has been found, it would not be a surprise to discover a Trumpet call before the other two harvests, also - the wheat harvest and the grape harvest. The wheat and grape harvest takes place at the time of the third coming of the King, after the millennium (see the Wheat Harvest. (see the Grape Harvest
Now we count 9 more days (10 days from the Sabbath) until the Day of Atonement.
