Lessons from Chicken Little:
The Sky is Falling! - The Sky is Falling!

There's a popular children's story in which an acorn falls on the head of Chicken Little (or Henny-Penny), who immediately assumes the sky is falling. She goes around telling everyone that "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" You can read the story Here.

There are many important lessons for life in this story:

1. Don't assume untrue facts
2. Don't assume the worst
3. Don't worry about things you can't control
4. Don't gossip
5. Don't panic or fear
6. Don't surrender to peer pressure
7. Trust your own judgment
8. The world is not ending
9. Don't just follow the leader
10. If you truly believe there is a problem, prepare constructively

These lessons are implied, not explicit, so require some thought to discover. There are probably even additional lessons, not listed here, such as those related to foxes.

But, none of these are the most important lessons. The most important lessons are:

11. Don't follow any leader other than the King of Kings

12. Have Faith in your heavenly Father. Trust Him.

These last two, of course, are lessons for us, not for silly Chicken Little.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love יהוה [Yahweh, god]... Romans 8:28

There are many people who are fearful today, but ALL worry, anxiety and fear are symptoms of lack of faith, lack of trust. If you are anxious or afraid or worry about ANYTHING, TRUST in your FATHER!

Sickness, death, rejection, catastrophes, war, relationships, people, sin, hell, failure, decisions, poverty, starvation, fear of covid or pestilence or plagues or the mark of the beast, fear of making a decision, fear of being personally responsible... etc....etc...

Fear has become the new normal. It doesn't matter what it is. How can we, who claim to have faith, ever worry or fear anything?

Don't follow Chicken Little (Henny-Penny). Following any leader is putting faith in that leader. Our faith should only be in our Father and King.

Most people follow a leader because of fear - fear to stand on their own - fear not to get in line and follow - fear of peer pressure from the other followers.

My only leader is the King of Kings and my Heavenly Father. I trust (have faith) that my own, independent decisions are a result of His leading because He is who I choose to follow. This article will be followed up by the "flip-side" or other "side of the coin" titled "Faith or Presumption".

If you are afraid, anxious or worried:

Cast thy burden upon יהוה, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalms 55:22

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6:34

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in יהוה, believe also in me. John 14:1

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 2 Corinthians 4:8

Elohim is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Psalms 46:1-2

The righteous cry, and יהוה heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. Psalms 34:17

Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. Psalms 32:7

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for יהוה thy Elohim, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Deuteronomy 31:6

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for יהוה thy Elohim is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9

And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the Lord God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of יהוה.
1 Chronicles 28:20

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy Elohim: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in יהוה, believe also in me. John 14:1

And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and יהוה feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then יהוה so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. Luke 12:22-30

Trust in יהוה with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of יהוה, He is my refuge and my fortress: my Elohim; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made יהוה, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. Psalms 91:1-16
