And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. Daniel 8:14

This study is more rhetorical than informational. It is something to ponder. Something that makes one go "Hmmmm?"

What is the cleansing of the sanctuary?

Are we talking hot soapy water and Lysol?

Or, is it a spiritual rather than a physical cleansing?

Where is this sanctuary? Some people say "in Heaven". Does Heaven need cleansing? or only the Heavenly sanctuary? Cleansing of what? Is there sin in Heaven? Or only in the heavenly sanctuary?

Why has it taken so long to cleanse this sanctuary?

Yahweh was able to create our world in 6 days, but it takes Him 200 years (since 1844) to clean out His sanctuary? How filthy is it? How slow is He?

Some people claim that cleansing the sanctuary has something to do with an investigative judgment and that is why it's taking so much time. But if our God is all knowing (omniscient) doesn't He know the outcome before He starts? From the very beginning? Requiring no time at all? (nothing to investigate?)

I am convinced that whatever requires time, is the result of God's people who are slow, stubborn and ignorant, not our Father. He is waiting for us, we are not waiting for Him. All He has to do is speak and it will be so, requiring no time at all.

What could He be waiting for?

Let's consider the various temples (sanctuaries):

And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them (Ex. 25:8). (See also Ex. 29:45-46 and Lev. 26:11-12)

Usually, the wilderness tabernacle is not recognized as a temple of Yahweh, but technically, it was; a place in which our god, Yahweh dwelt.

Next was Solomon's temple, also inhabited by Yahweh. This temple was destroyed by Babylon after Yahweh had withdrawn.

After Babylonian captivity the temple was rebuilt. This was the temple in existence at the time of the Messiah, Yahushua. It lacked the ark of the covenant, having been lost or hidden before Babylon could carry it off, and we have no written indication that Yahweh ever dwelt within it.

In fact, it was superseded even before its destruction:

Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body. When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. John 2:19-22

Here we have direct proof that the new temple, raised up 3 days after the crucifixion, even before the 2nd temple was destroyed in 70 A.D., referred to the resurrected body of the Christ. Is this the sanctuary that must be cleansed? No... He was glorified, sinless after His resurrection.

We aren't there yet....

Know ye not that ye are the temple of יהוה [Yahweh], and that the Spirit of יהוה dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of יהוה, him shall יהוה destroy; for the temple of יהוה is holy, which temple ye are. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17.

AND

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have of יהוה, and ye are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:19

Ah-ha!!! WE are the temple. It is WE who need to be cleansed before He returns. Now we know why it is taking so long. WE need to come out of Babylon and be clean, but WE are slow and stubborn and ignorant.
