As a result of Satan's defeat and Yahweh's victory, Satan became more sophisticated and subtle. He obtained worship through false Christian churches. The people thought they were worshiping the true God, Yahweh and His Son, but they were not. If worship is not to/of Yahweh, it is to/of Satan.

In this manifestation, by infiltrating the Christian church, Satan deceived many. He operated through a human proxy, the pope. He brought Paganism into the "Christian church". He made a new calendar, usurping Yahweh's time (Daniel 7:25, Job 24:1-2). See Yahweh Created Time and How Yahweh's Time Differs for further study.

Most of (western) mankind followed the pope, represented by beasts in Daniel and Revelation. This resulted in the worship of (hidden) Satan. And all the world wondered after the beast (Revelation 13:3).

For a while, Protestants resisted, but they are now falling in line and are no better than the beast. Almost all churches are proxies for Satan worship.

But there was still a group he could not control. He would become even more devious and diabolical.
