The "END" is of intense interest to Christians. When is the END? Before answering this question, we need to know WHAT is ending. The end of WHAT?

There are only a few verses that discuss "the end" without referring to WHAT is ending. These are more likely to be in the Old Testament than the New. The further away from the "end" the more vague it is. The New Testamant is much more specific. Daniel mentions "end" without many specifics, but frequently is referring to some "end" of the prophecy he just described.

Here is an example of an undefined "end":

"And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end (Hebrew qets)." Daniel 12:9

Following is another verse from Daniel with a specific "end", the "end of sin":

"Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end (Hebrew qets) of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy." Daniel 9:24

Hebrew 7093 qets kates contracted from 7112; an extremity; adverbially (with prepositional prefix) after:--+ after, (utmost) border, end, (in-)finite, X process. Strongs Bible Dictionary

"End" in the Greek is usually Strongs 5056 telos tel'-os from a primary tello (to set out for a definite point or goal); properly, the point aimed at as a limit, i.e. (by implication) the conclusion of an act or state (termination (literally, figuratively or indefinitely), result (immediate, ultimate or prophetic), purpose); specially, an impost or levy (as paid):--+ continual, custom, end(-ing), finally, uttermost. Compare 5411.

These New Testament verses also have no end defined, but mentioned.

"Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our master Yahusuah the Messiah." 1 Corinthians 1:8

"For we are made partakers of the Messiah, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;" Hebrews 3:14

"And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:" Hebrews 6:11

"But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:" Revelation 2:25-26

"And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet." Matthew 24:6

The previous verse doesn't define end, but we can see from a nearby verse that the end is the end of the world.

"And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" Matthew 24:3

The disciples clearly linked the sign of Yahushua's coming with the end of the world. But is this "the end"? A different "end" in 1 Corinthians 15:24 is ages later than His coming, after the millennium and at the end of the Kingdom.

"Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to Yahweh, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power." 1 Corinthians 15:24

Let's see if we can discover the meaning(s) of end.
